Have you ever thought of putting lemon’s in your smoothies?
If you follow Erin Ireland, she’s always adding a full lemon into her smoothies and to be honest I always thought it was a bit nutty. She does it all the time and I couldn’t bring myself to throw a full lemon in there!
I recently went to Bolt Fresh Bar in Toronto and they had a smoothie with a lemon in it so I decided to try it out. To my surprise, it was DELICIOUS! I don’t know why I ever questioned it, anything I’ve ever made following Erin Ireland’s guidance has always been 100% delicious. Honestly, if you don’t follow her and you’re into plant-based cooking, do it! She breaks everything down into simple steps that make re-creating her recipes super easy. (She’s totally my vegan idol)
So pretty much, I am now obsessed with putting lemons in my smoothies! So great for alkalinity and boost of your immune system.
Here’s my go-to lemony fresh smoothie recipe:
1 full lemon (peel off, seeds are totally fine!)
1 inch ginger
1 scoop Botanica lionsmane infused protein (optional swap: 1 cup hemp hearts)
1 cup water
2 cups strawberries or raspberries
Keeping it simple really brings out the flavour of the lemon & the ginger gives it a nice kick.
